GOSPEL PEARLS

The real announcement

Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation (Mark 16, 15)

Schegge di vangelo 25_01_2022

Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them:‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’. (Mark 16, 15-18)

By sending the apostles on a mission of evangelisation, Jesus puts its contents in order of importance. First of all, the mission requires the apostles to proclaim the Gospel and not to affirm their own subjective opinion, while those who to listen to it, must decide whether to trust their witness. Even if the signs that sometimes accompany preaching are prodigious, they are still secondary to the Gospel and serve to strengthen the trustworthiness of the apostles  those who listen to them. How do you announce the Gospel to those you meet every day? Are you ready to give account for the hope in you? How deeply do you go into the truths of the Christian faith so your announcement is correct?
